I bought a canoe last year. This year I’m taking it on a 1,200-mile trip.
It all goes back to a book I wrote about a guy named Douglass Houghton. He explored the region by canoe and I always thought that would be a great thing to try.
I could write all about it but I have a couple of videos that explain it. Here’s the most recent, where I took the canoe out recently.
And the one where I explain the trip, why I’m doing it and how it is going to work.
If you find this sort of thing interesting, subscribe to my youtube channel. I’ll be posting updates there all summer.

Couldn’t watch the video, but a while back, I took a 120 mile canoe trip.
It took us about a week to do. We had to bring a metric shit ton of food supplies for 4 of us. We were canoeing some lakes and wind was sometimes to our back and sometimes pinned us to shore.
My whole point here is... 1200 miles???? Are you insane? That’s like 5 times to the moon and back with a pit stop at mars.

My canoe is motorized and I will have better access to supplies due to my route. It’ll be a grind but it is doable.

This is something I’d love to do at some point. Okay, maybe not 1200 miles, but I’d like to get a canoe and do a week long trip down the Wisconsin river

is a motorized canoe a boat? So you will be boating 1200 miles? Occasionally stopping at McDonald’s locates on or near water? So basically a Viking Waterway cruise where you are the captain, passenger and boat staff?
:D I am busting your chops obviously. It sounds like fun. Are you offering to subsidize my time off so I can take one of these trips too?

I gutta say, I’m a bit jealous. that sounds much more enjoyable than piloting this cubicle.
I saw you gave a guy on here some help after getting T-bones
While you are cruising along, how about some more Tales from the Towtruck?

I remember hearing about it on your podcast, sounds like a really neat adventure.
Will you be trying to catch fish along the way to eat or not even messing with tackle?

I am following in the footsteps (figuratively) of a guy who didn’t paddle either. Back then, you hired people to paddle for you. I’d hire a bunch if I could but they no longer exist!

One guy joining me for a week is bringing his and claims we will be eating seafood like kings. We’ll see.

If I attempted this journey, it would end up being me going in circles for 1200 miles. I’ve found I’m much better in a kayak.

Good luck! I always thought it’d be fun to canoe down the Mississippi River. I also want to ride my bike coast to coast someday. I’d really like to do it unsupported, but I think I’ll end up doing it the easy way. Time is the big constraint.
This will be one of those unforgettable trips, Steve. I’m sure you’ll have a blast.

Sounds like it will be an amazing experience! So close to the boundary waters canoe area, too bad you’re not going through there also. Even without though, it’s a gorgeous region.

The Mississippi River might be next. That is, if this trip works out.

Have you thought about where you’re going to end at? Right at the RenCen, Belle Isle?
Or is that actually the last thing you have to think about.

Well if you go down the Mississippi river,
You should go right down to the Gulf of Mexico
To Lake Charles, Louisiana
Where you can meet up with Little Bessie... who is a girl I used to know.

What types of claims?
Negligence, Defective Product or Intentional Wrong?
Negligence claim with hot sauce... Mmmmm...

Outlandish claims, each more outlandish than the last.

Those aren’t to my taste. When someone presents me with a Outlandish Claims, I generally dismiss them no matter how good the sauce is.

You are thinking of Outlander Clams. Those things will kill you.

Now that we’ve had this discussion, when you get back to work and someone hands you a file, you’ll be like “Let’s have a look at this clam... uhhh... CLAIM. “
